Ein Video von Schweizer Geiseln in Pakistan. Knapp vier Monate nach der Entführung eines Schweizer Touristen-Ehepaares in Pakistan haben die Taliban am Dienstag zwei Videos der Geiseln veröffentlicht. In den Videos halten die beiden Schweizer pakistanische Zeitungen vom 15. September in die Kamera.Die Aufnahmen dürften also bereits gut einen Monat alt sein. Aus Taliban-Kreisen hiess es am Dienstag aber, die Geiseln seien weiterhin am Leben. In dem Video bittet der verschleppte Ehemann um die Freilassung der in den USA inhaftierten Pakistanerin Aafia Siddiqui sowie von Taliban-Gefangenen in Pakistan.

Just four months after the kidnapping of a Swiss tourist couple in Pakistan the Taliban released two videos of the hostages on Tuesday. In the video, the two keep Swiss Pakistani newspapers by 15 September at the camera.
The images are likely to be so well a month old. From Taliban circles said on Tuesday but that the hostages were still alive. In the video of the deported husband asks for the release of the Pakistanerin imprisoned in the United States Aafia Siddiqui and of Taliban prisoners in Pakistan.

LONDON: Al Qaeda Chief Osama Bin Laden had direct contact with Taliban allies and fellow Arab fundraisers at the compound in Abbottabad, British newspaper The Telegraph claimed.

According to the newspaper, British intelligence agents last week joined their US counterparts to sift through the material after repeated references to Britain were found in the haul retrieved from Osama’s compound when US commandos killed him this month.

An Afghan Taliban commander, who has previously provided reliable information to foreign media, disclosed to the British newspaper that he had visited bin Laden at the compound in Abbottabad.

He said that the Saudi terror chief also received sporadic visits from leaders of his al-Qaeda network, Taliban allies and fellow Arab fundraisers.

When the commander, who asked not to be named, last saw Osama in Abbottabad two years ago, he seemed healthy and well briefed on recent developments, but concerned about his safety and money.

The Sunday Telegraph has learned that Britain was one of six countries – along with the US, Canada, Israel, Germany and Spain – identified as a target for terror strikes in the intelligence haul. Officials did not disclose specific plots or threats.

Iraqi border guards have detained five Saudi arms dealers in the southern province of Najaf while trying to smuggle weapons, ammunition and drugs into the country.

The men were arrested in Najaf’s Waksa district on Monday as they were traveling in a car, carrying drugs, explosive-laden belts and fire arms fitted with silencers, local media reported.

Iraq’s Buratha news agency had earlier disclosed documents indicating Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, who heads the Saudi National Security Council, has appointed a new leader for the al-Qaeda cell operating in Iraq.

Known for his support for a number of regional terrorist groups, the prince has reportedly chosen a militant leader identified as Abu Suleiman as the new commander of al-Qaeda militants in Iraq.

Abu Suleiman holds both Saudi and Iraqi nationalities and replaces al-Qaeda leaders Abu Ayyub al-Masri and Abu Omar al-Baghdadi who were killed earlier by Iraqi security forces.

Reports released by officials in Baghdad show tens of Saudi nationals are being held in Iraqi prisons over charges of terrorism.
