Globally Sourced Menswear
Charting the evolution of the brand’s exploration into reflective fabrics, Stone Island have curated this inspirational exhibition as part of Tortona Design Week 2015 in Milan.
Dubbed ‘Reflective Research’, the exhibition provides a stable insight into the Italian label’s design process into creating one among its signature functions. The story began in 1992, when Stone Island, headed up by the iconic designer Carlo Rivetti, began delving into the world of reflective fabrics based on the study of security workwear clothing.
This preliminary intrigue led to the thought of coating textiles with resins containing 1000’s of glass microspheres. This retrospective retraces the research involved by interpretations of various textile bases and the numerous experimental processes made on completed garments; as well as pieces that by no means made stone island van mildert it into production.
