The Year Of The Windrunner
The NIKELAB X STONE ISLAND THE 12 months OF THE WINDRUNNER Collection kicks off the celebration of the iconic piece of apparel.
The iconic WINDRUNNER was designed by the brand’s first apparel designer again in 1978 and was revolutionary, with its raglan sleeves and 26-diploma chevron yoke. The jacket turned the primary piece of NIKE apparel worn by athletes at monitor and field trials earlier than, and after competition. Over time it has gone on to turn out to be a staple of both the medal stands and the town streets. To kick off the commemorative releases the WINDRUNNER might be overhauled by STONE ISLAND, who are famous for fabric innovation, engineering and dyeing methods.
The result’s a fusion of the two brands’ aesthetics, with the modern interpretation sporting a water and wind-resistant chevron and hood constructed from Mussola Gommata fabric, while Nylon Metallic fabric features on the physique and PrimaLoft technology on the lining. The signature color-blocking is given a twist thanks to the garment dyeing course of that STONE ISLAND is well-known for, with a selection of gray, red, blue, navy, khaki or black. The finishing contact is the diagonal pockets with the zip fastening hidden by nylon tape.
Alongside the six colourways of the jacket there shall be a duo of the NIKE KOTH Extremely MID SI, in a selection of khaki or black, both of which are coated in polyurethane to make them resistant to the weather. The finishing contact for the collection is a pair of drawstring luggage, also in khaki or black, with chevron styling to imitate the WINDRUNNER. We should say we didn’t see this coming, however we are glad it did.
