The Jacket: Stone Island – “Here Comes The Science Bit”
Introduced in 1989, the jacket was one in all the important thing designs that put Stone Island on the stone island baseball cap grey vogue map. Now a model staple, it’s influenced by authentic work gear and navy uniforms, and its design has been repeated and reinterpreted over several seasons. For Fall/Winter 2012, the J returns to taunt fans with a brand new flavour.
It really works by applying a polyurethane film stone island baseball cap grey embedded with microencapsulated pigments to the jacket’s frivolously padded polyester jersey outer shell. A tailor-made fabric that’s temperature-delicate to water and wind, the resistant coating is thermo-chromatic and efficient between 10° to 15°C. It signifies that when the wearer is exposed to the elements, molecules are stimulated that alter the passage of mild by the pigments, altering the shade of the jacket from a chartreuse green right into a chilled grey slate. Full with a feather-down lining and angled pockets, zip fastenings and inner elasticated cuffs, the brand has left, ahem, no stone unturned in relation to performance.
