Randall Shaw, with Louisiana Fishing Charters, mentioned he’s caught several current limits of specks in clean, shifting water and advised spots like the Wreck, Five Wells, the Black Tanks, the Compressor and as far east as the Central Rig and the rocks on the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet Canal.
“Everybody’s been saying the fishing in Black Bay hasn’t been good. Properly, it’s been great all 12 months when the wind is down,Shaw stated. “Now the wind is down and the river is down. The fish have all the time been there, they’ve simply been out of attain for most individuals.
“Most people don’t wish to ride 20 or 30 miles to get into that water,he mentioned. “Now the river’s come down, the salinity is up closer in, and these fish are exhibiting up./p>
The key is to give attention to the clear water Shaw has been seeing east of Stone Island. Just a little additional west, he said the water is extra soiled and the fishing hasn’t been nearly as good.
“That line can transfer. It looks as if they’re sitting proper on the edge of that soiled water. If the dirty water moves 10 miles east, they’ll go 10 miles east,he said. “Just try to stay in those patches of unpolluted water. If you will discover it, they’ve been unbelievable. This is the stuff I’ve been waiting all year to see./p>
The weather forecast seems great all week long, but tidal ranges are usually not particularly favorable for this coming weekend, he said.
“Just search for good water and shifting water,Shaw said. “If you get out into Black Bay and the water’s not transferring, go deeper. The deeper you go, the extra tidal motion you’re going to find. The bait might be transferring with it and the trout might be feeding./p>
Smaller trout have already begun moving north into Pumpkin Bay and Drum Bay as they migrate to the internal marshes, he said.
“Those are little trout simply starting to point out up there,Shaw stated. “Give them another two or three weeks and they’ll be in there. They’re getting close./p>
After the total moon on Sept. 19, Shaw said he’ll begin actively fishing for specks closer in.
“That can be after i begin trying to find them on the sting of the marsh,he said.
Redfish-clever, massive bull reds have moved in and are biting alongside the sting of the marsh and in Black Bay.
Shaw prompt useless shrimp underneath a popping cork or lifeless shrimp on a Carolina rig, if you’re fishing shelves in deeper water.
“They’re actually exhibiting up in all places. It appears like the middle of the marsh, along the Twin Pipelines Canal, and around the edges the place Black Bay meets the marsh, have been having a variety of bulls,Shaw mentioned.
