An interesting pitch, James, but I’m not sure I’m ever going to see a return on my investment, so I wish you the best of luck with it, but… I’m OUT.

i thought it was quite amusing that this chap who is now advocating giving loads to Pakistan, should have changed his name to a western one, why is he ashamed his name is Nazeem Khan. He;s got loads why doesn’t he donate all his wealth to them.

here are my grades
Maths A*
Statistics A*
English lan A*
English lit A
Science A*
Additional science A*
Geography A*
ICT distinction* ( equal to two A*)
Product design A
Urdu A*
I also done additonal maths which was a level 3 qualification like an Alevel and got a B
I have a A level in urdu and I got an A
I am planning to do 4 A levels in maths, chemistry, physics and biology

I was very happy with my results but then I read in the news that some students from indepentant schools have like 13 A*’s where as I have only got 9. One thing that’s also worrying me is that I am only doing 5 A levels where as people do 6.
Can i still get into these universities to study physics or medicine?

Ahh calm down, honestly haha! Seriously, unis DO NOT look at your GCSE grades, really. They’ll check to make sure you’ve got 5 C grades, including maths and english, and that’s IT. Oxbridge is more competitive, yes, but even they will just glance down your list, see the A* and As, and look no more into it. Yes, some people will do more GCSEs than you, but they don’t take that into account if you didn’t have the opportunity to do any more than 9.

And as for the 6 A-levels thing…again, it’s quality, not quantity. NO university will give you an offer which asks for more than 3 A-levels. It’s just that 4/5/6 A-levels is considered more ‘impressive’ by some, and when I say ’some’ that doesn’t necessarily mean Oxbridge tutors! In fact, the only people who consider it more impressive are stuck up school kids and grandparents. Someone could have 7 A-levels and still not get into Oxbridge, whereas I’ve known people get in with BBC grades at A-level (admittedly, a one off case, but it still proves the point haha).

So yes, your GCSE grades are very, very good. Yes, you’ll be fine with 5 A-levels (4 AT MOST is necessary, unless you meant to say 5 AS levels and then 4 A levels?). And YES, you need to stop worrying, and just concentrate on getting those As at A-level.

Good luck, anyway =)
